Residential Architectural Designer

Lars Remodeling & Design, an award-winning home remodeling company in San Diego, specializing in residential remodels and new home construction, is seeking a Residential Designer to join our growing team of professionals. This is a full-time, office-based position. No telecommuting.

Candidates will be responsible for, but not limited to the following:

  • Work with the project team on conceptual designs, presentations, design development and production
  • Coordinate with consultants and regulatory agencies to meet overall project objectives
  • Resolve design solutions
  • Produce graphic presentations, 3D renderings and construction drawings
  • Assist in managing client expectations, team communication and consultant coordination

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of experience in residential design
  • Must be a motivated self-starter with the ability to problem solve individually and with the project team
  • Proficient on AutoCAD and Revit
  • Knowledge of materials, construction techniques and building codes
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time

Estimator/Purchaser

A dual role that immediately adds value to the company, the Estimator/Purchaser collects and analyzes data in order to estimate the time, money, materials, and labor required to complete a project. Also buys raw materials, inventory, equipment, and services that are necessary for our business to maintain the company operations of our projects.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Estimate projects prior to contracting in addition to construction products and materials, including labor.
  • Establish project costs by determining quantities and measurements of all construction scopes and applying unit costs.
  • Prepare construction budget by studying home plans, updating specifications, identifying and projecting costs for each elevation.
  • Communicate with trade partners their scope of work to establish a preliminary cost. Receive and evaluate subcontractor quotes for applicable alignment with contractor bid documents qualifying vendor proposals to ascertain scope duplication and/or omissions.
  • Specification writing for contracted projects and purchasing materials. Write necessary specifications within 5 business days of contract.
  • Provide purchasing plan and control information by collecting, analyzing and summarizing data.
  • Efficiently estimate/ purchase each project with a minimum 43% Gross Profit.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience in construction estimating
  • 3-5 years of Project Management experience
  • Able to read architectural plans and develop cost estimates
  • High level of computer skills and working knowledge of industry standard software programs

Project Consultant

Residential remodeling design sales experience extremely beneficial.

As a Project Consultant, your position focus is to successfully complete the sale of residential design+build remodeling projects and assist the Lars Remodeling & Design team in providing the highest level of service to our clients. Engage, assess, and procure new clients through self-promotion and/or leads generated. Meet with prospective clients, assess project goals, provide detailed estimates, delivering the highest level of customer service possible based on Lars Remodeling & Design standards. Uphold our focus to provide our clients with an industry professional, not a salesman, at the initial point of contact, and build relationships to work with that person throughout the duration of their home remodeling project.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide in-home consultations with prospective clients.
  • Establish rapport and secure customer appointments in-home and at Lars Remodeling & Design Showroom for various meetings/ reviews.
  • Able to perform moderate tasks without supervision, or difficult tasks with supervision.
  • Create and provide detailed quotes related to home remodeling to potential clients in a timely, efficient manner.
  • Educate potential clients on the comprehensive design service provided by the company.
  • Manage the sales and project management process for the lifecycle of each individual home remodeling project.
  • Must have a general understanding of the home remodeling industry, be able to assess and manage individual client expectations and needs, and work closely with them to translate the vision they have for their home into a solid design plan alongside the Lars team.
  • Report updates on a regular basis to the Vice President at the weekly Design meetings.
  • Coordinate on an ongoing basis with the team to provide exceptional after-sales service to clients.
  • Engage with clients via any communication available such as but not limited to; personal or telephone conversations, emails, and text messages.
  • Educate potential clients on all company-sponsored finance options available to them.
  • Transition prospects into clients via Design Agreements. (15% of leads to Design Agreement)
  • Once the vision and design goals are reached, work with the potential client to convert the project into contract and provide a complete, individualized design solution based on identified customer needs to close the sale (80% of Design Agreements into Contract)
  • Maintain potential client follow-up, lead pipeline
  • Cultivate and self-generated leads/ sales for Lars Remodeling & Design
  • Must be able to sell 2 million dollars annually (Initial year), 2.5m (thereafter)

MINOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate in field measures at the client’s home working alongside the Lars Remodeling & Design team.
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with team members to collaborate to complete the task at hand.
  • Proactively work with marketing team to participate in Lars home remodeling webinar taping with the ability to perform presentations being knowledgeable of all topics discussed.
  • Contribute to the development and on-going upkeep of the teams design portfolio.
  • Participate at home shows as needed.
  • Engage with trades and vendors to network and grow a referral base.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and work environment.
  • Involvement as required in all company-sponsored marketing and training programs.
  • Upgrade knowledge on current design and color trends to create fashionable design solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB

  • Customer service/sales experience.
  • Experience in home sales of residential remodeling.
  • Construction and Project Management experience a plus.
  • Efficient at cost estimating.
  • Able to perform physical tasks such as but not limited to lifting of heavy objects.
  • Proficient computer skills are a must.
  • Experience with Active Campaign, Builder Trend, and Chief Architect is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills and work reasonably well with others.
  • Space planning and organizational skills.
  • Promote honesty, integrity, and trustworthiness.
  • Able to work a flexible work schedule when needed including weekends and evenings.

Interior Designer

Celebrating 30 years as San Diego’s premier design+build home remodeling company, Lars is looking for an Interior Designer to join our growing team. As Interior Designer, our candidate will define the Scope of Work through assessment of the client’s needs, requirements, and design/décor style. Provide design expertise and recommendations to clients including concept development, field measurements, space planning, generating visual plan layouts, and sourcing products, materials, and accessories.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare for all internal and client meetings with status and Agendas as necessary to communicate project status.
  • Attend all internal project meetings including, but not limited to: Debrief, Team, and End of Design (EOD).
  • Attend all onsite and offsite client meetings including, but not limited to: Discovery, Design Selections, Design Review (DR), Selections meetings, Pre-Construction, Cabinet Sign-off, Electrical Walk, Countertop Sign-off, and Closing meeting.
  • Full understanding of Lars process and meeting project deadlines.
  • Attend project photo shoots and assist with staging when necessary.
  • Performs additional duties assigned by the Director of Design or other supervisory position that serves our clients and benefits the company.
  • Maintain a high level of current product knowledge in the marketplace.
  • Provide a written summary of the Discovery and or Design Selection meeting findings to the Design Team prior to the Debrief meeting.
  • Analyzing client’s needs and specifications to make sure the project is finished in accordance with the timeline and budget.
  • Collaborate with the client on design factors to achieve the client’s goals with the highest level of quality and finish.
  • Coordinate with the Project Managers and trade partners to ensure a smooth build process.
  • Read, interpret, review, and make corrections to finished plans (ID Set) as needed.
  • Ensure all Allowance costs have been sourced and uploaded into the selections management software for approval and client viewing.
  • Ensure all selections are approved in selections management software prior to the EOD meeting.
  • Research products and materials as needed to support the design team on technical issues influencing concept development.
  • Understand product cost and how they affect the project budget
  • Ensure follow-up with clients is completed on a regular basis.
  • Perform moderate tasks without supervision or difficult tasks with supervision.
  • Build relationships with clients and knowing to read the different personalities presented.
  • Corresponds with clients in a proactive manner to ensure they remain fully informed and up to date.
  • Submit weekly project updates to the Director of Design or Senior Interior Designer.

MINOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with team members to collaborate and complete the task at hand.
  • Data entry of all selections and materials into Builder Trend.
  • Visit job sites as needed.
  • On-going product knowledge, staying current of new design, materials, and trends.
  • Use design software to create models and visuals.
  • Will perform any duties as instructed by the Director of Design, Senior, or other Superior position that serves our clients and benefits our company.

Jr. Interior Designer

Assist the project Interior Designer in his/her daily duties of project design and development to include but not limited to: product research, product selections, sourcing of materials, material costs, Selections Library maintenance and Client Presentations. Report to the Director of Design on tasks and work directly with him/her to ensure the facilitation of the project’s completion.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Schedule meetings with sales representatives to acquire the most current product for the Selections Library.
  • Organize Selections Library daily. Insure all labels and tags are current, neat and clean.
  • Maintain Selections Library inventory. Order product from vendors as needed.
  • Prepare presentation materials with the direction of the project Interior Designer.
  • Acquire product samples for project Interior Designer when needed.
  • Performs additional duties assigned by the Director of Design or other supervisory position that serves our clients and benefits the company.
  • Prepare Selection Binders for Project Managers.
  • Data entry of all selections and materials into Builder Trend
  • Insure that all relevant costs have been obtained for allowance items, enter cost into Builder Trend.
  • Interact with the Project Managers and trade partners as needed.
  • Read, interpret, review, and make corrections to finished plans as needed.
  • Research concepts and materials to support design team on technical issues influencing concept development.
  • Create Materials Boards for Presentations as needed.
  • Perform small tasks without supervision, or moderate tasks with supervision within a given time and framework.
  • Submit weekly project updates to the Director of Design.

Product Sales Assistant

Celebrating 30 years as San Diego’s trusted design + build company, Lars Remodeling & Design specializes in all aspects of home remodeling, including the direct sale of top brand appliances, plumbing fixtures, and outdoor products at our Appliance Showroom. Lars is currently seeking a Product Sales Assistant to join our dynamic team. As a Product Sales Assistant, you will use your exceptional organizational and communication skills to oversee the logistics within the product department, serving as the liaison between product specialists, remodeling team, project managers, and brand representatives.

Ideally, this role will start as a part-time position and grow into a full-time position within the Lars Appliance and Product department.

General Job Description

Assume the role of a detail-oriented Product Sales Assistant for the Lars Appliance Showroom, reporting directly to the Director of Product Sales and working closely with Product Specialists and other key departments to assist the Lars sales team in driving sales of appliances/fixtures/products for our clients, leading to the overall growth of the department.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Have a solid understanding of the San Diego appliance and plumbing fixture sales landscape and overall awareness of key retailers.
  • Manage vital purchase information and data entry for cash and remodeling client sales utilizing the Builder Trend platform.
  • Manage the logistical details related to scheduling of product deliveries, both at the Lars Appliance Showroom and client project sites, coordinating directly with the Project Management team.
  • Build relationships with vendor representatives to procure information and collateral related to new and approved vendor products and programs.
  • Proactively and continually seek detailed understanding of product offering, maintaining individually outlined brand standards.
  • Participate in Lars Remodeling Workshops and special events held in the showroom (as needed and allowed under current state and local health and safety standards).
  • Regularly attend Product Knowledge (PK) trainings as offered by Director of Product Sales and vendors representatives.
  • Work directly with the marketing team to provide timely details and collateral from vendor representatives for special promotions and offerings.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of integrity, business ethics, and commitment to organizational goals.
  • Assist with deliveries and stock handling as directed for your department.
  • Maintain excellent showroom appearance.

Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years of experience in an administrative role within a well-established organization
  • Direct experience in the appliance and plumbing sales industry very beneficial
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint (experience with Builder Trend platform a plus)
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Must be highly organized with the ability to work on multiple projects at one time
