Kensington Home Remodel

This whole home remodel in Kensington that featured a master suite addition was filled with special touches that highlighted the homeowner’s love of Mid-century modern design, including their extensive collection of vibrant original artwork from famed artist, Shag.

While set on a canyon with plenty of natural light, the original floorplan felt cramped and the homeowner longed for a more open-concept space. Removing walls opened everything up and created a natural flow between the living room, sitting area, and kitchen, all of which were extensively updated.

The kitchen layout was reconfigured and light colors used to create a distinctly modern look. A large island was added to create an eat-in space while also housing the range. Upper cabinets were removed on all but one wall to open up the sight line and let the natural light pour in from outside. Sleek white cabinetry with brass hardware was selected and ample counter space created a refreshingly functional space.

The master suite addition provided much needed extra space for this family and connected to an existing bathroom which was completely redone. A dual vanity, unique glass tiles, and a spacious walk-in shower provided the finishing touch on this relaxing master retreat.
